Starting from scratch – setting up a brand for success

It’s always exciting to be a part of the launch of a new business. There’s no doubt it is pivotal to get the look and feel right, to ensure it resonates well with the target market and makes an impact. So when Olivia got in touch to create her brand profile from scratch, understanding what she was looking to achieve was the first step in developing a business name and logo.

From there it was about developing a concept and nailing a result that would not only stand out, but take the business through its initial years of growth.

The Logo

The logo itself represents the facets of volcanic glass – relating to the business name Obsidian –  while emulating the ‘O’ shape and using supporting graphics and colours to strengthen the branding.

Branding

When briefed to create a new brand identity for a local insurance company, it was important that the end product would easily reproduce in all marketing collateral. This would allow Obsidian to maintain strong continuity and brand presence across all mediums.

As a start-up business, coming up with a brand was a daunting task for us - we didn’t even have a name when we approached ninetyblack.
